Change doesn’t happen often at the Oldest Barbeque Joint in Texas, and we pride ourselves on that going back to 1882.
However, we need to introduce a new menu design to y'all with a hitch: it is actually a throwback to the old days. Historically, Central Texas barbeque was always sold as meat by the pound over a scale, going back to our heritage of starting in a butcher shop. Over time, we moved to a traditional restaurant menu, but it just got too complicated for our guests.
We decided to go back to the old days to make ordering simple again and to offer total flexibility so every guest can get exactly what they want, how they want it, with no restrictions.
How to Order
When you walk up to our menu here at Southside Market & Barbeque, you will make two simple decisions:
-
What meat do you want and how do you want to get it. All meats are sold across the scale by the Piece, Pound, Slice, or Dollar, so there are no restrictions.
-
Do you want your meat a la carte, on a sandwich, or on a plate. Our team will guide you on portions, but you can get any quantity you like.
Next, choose your side items. We have traditional potato salad, beans, and cole slaw, alongside scratch-made mac & cheese, side salads, and our new fresh green beans made daily. You can also build your own meal with our salads, potatoes, or Ranch Hand bowl by paying a base price and adding whatever meat you choose on top.
Family Meals: We still absolutely offer Family Meals. Just tell our team how many people you are feeding and how hungry they are. We will guide you on how many pounds of meat and quarts of sides you need to feed your group without breaking the bank.
Let's Talk Beef and 4-Letter Words
We love Beef, but right now, Beef is expensive. That is a fact that is not changing soon, so we want to remind everyone that you can still have great, Authentic Central Texas barbeque without breaking the bank. Barbeque is not expensive; Beef is expensive. Brisket costs more today than last year, but we have excellent alternatives if you learn a few other 4-letter words:
