Servings:
4 Sandwiches
Time Needed:
Prep time: 10 Minutes
Cook time: 20 Minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 Southside fully smoked Pork Steak, sliced into thin strips
- 4 bolillo rolls
- 1/3 lb. thinly sliced smoked ham
- 1/3 lb. thinly sliced Swiss cheese
- 1 cup sliced pickles
- mayonnaise
- yellow mustard
Directions:
Preheat oven or grill (indirect setup) to 400F
To assemble the sandwiches: Slice the rolls in half horizontally. Brush the cut surfaces of the rolls with mayonnaise on one side and mustard on the other.
Layer the sandwiches as follows: Sliced pork steak, ham, pickle, and then Swiss cheese.
Wrap each sandwich individually with foil.
Place the foil wrapped sandwiches on a baking sheet and then top with another baking sheet, slightly flattening the sandwiches in between. Weigh down the top baking sheet with a brick or other heavy oven-safe pan. You’re basically creating an oven-ready sandwich press.
Bake in the oven or on the grill for 5-6 minutes per side, until bread is lightly crisp and the cheese is melting. Remove from heat, unwrap, and serve warm.
